Description
The Acanto is a 2 light table lamp built on a polished chrome scrollwork frame with black silk string shades and cut lead crystal pans beneath each shade. The chrome framework rises from a three-footed base through a series of flowing scrolls, supporting two arms that each terminate in a circular crystal dish topped by a polished chrome stem and a tapered black shade. Each shade houses an E14 bulb (sold separately).
Designed for side tables, console tables and bedside surfaces where decorative accent lighting is needed, the lamp stands 380mm tall with a 280mm x 190mm footprint. The scrollwork frame gives the lamp presence without dominating smaller surfaces, while the black shades direct light upward and downward through the crystal pans rather than outward into the room. This makes the Acanto suited to ambient rather than task lighting—providing a warm glow to a seating area or hallway console rather than reading light.
The polished chrome finish reflects surrounding light and pairs with both monochrome and warm-toned interiors. The black silk string shades are wrapped in vertical strands that allow light to pass through in fine lines, creating texture when the lamp is lit. The cut crystal pans beneath each shade catch and scatter the downward light, adding a layer of refraction to the overall effect. The combination of chrome, black fabric and crystal gives the lamp a formal character that suits classical, art deco and contemporary interiors with decorative detailing.
The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer on the mains circuit. At 1.3kg the lamp has enough weight to remain stable on polished surfaces without needing to be secured. The Acanto forms part of a wider Mantra collection that includes coordinating ceiling and wall fittings in the same chrome, black and crystal aesthetic.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Acanto take?
The lamp takes two E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting. The maximum wattage depends on the bulb type—check the bulb packaging for safe maximum output.
Is the Acanto dimmable?
Yes, provided you use dimmable E14 bulbs and have a compatible dimmer installed on the mains circuit. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.
What type of light does it provide?
The Acanto is an ambient decorative lamp rather than a task light. The black shades direct light upward and downward through the crystal pans, creating a soft glow around the lamp rather than focused light for reading or working.
Are there matching pieces in the Acanto range?
Yes. Mantra produces coordinating ceiling lights, wall lights and larger floor lamps in the Acanto collection, all sharing the same polished chrome, black shade and cut crystal aesthetic. Use the search function to find other Acanto pieces in stock at Niori.
