Description
The Acanto is a single-light wall lamp built around a polished chrome backplate and scrollwork arm, with a cut lead crystal pan set beneath a black silk shade. The chrome arm curves forward from the wall in a decorative S-scroll, holding the E14 bulb fitting above the crystal pan, which catches and refracts light both upwards into the shade and outwards into the room. The black silk shade diffuses the bulb light into a soft ambient wash.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms, either side of a mirror, or as bedside reading light in place of table lamps, the Acanto projects 220mm from the wall and sits 380mm tall, making it compact enough for narrower corridors or alcoves where a larger sconce would overwhelm. The polished chrome finish reflects surrounding light, so the fitting stays visually light even in darker settings. The lamp is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E14 bulb and compatible dimmer switch.
The scrollwork is cast metal rather than stamped sheet, giving it three-dimensional depth under direct light. The lead crystal pan is facet-cut on the underside, so when the bulb is lit the crystal throws small points of refracted light onto the wall behind. The black silk shade is strung onto a wire frame, creating vertical striations that allow some direct light through while softening the overall output. At 0.8kg the lamp is light enough to mount on plasterboard with standard cavity fixings.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Acanto uses a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users fit a 4-6W LED candle or golf ball bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) to suit the traditional styling. Maximum recommended wattage depends on the bulb type — LED bulbs up to 6W are safe; older halogen bulbs should not exceed 40W.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when paired with a dimmable E14 bulb and a compatible wall dimmer. The fitting itself has no built-in dimming — dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you choose and the dimmer switch installed on the circuit.
What wall fixings are needed?
The lamp weighs 0.8kg and mounts via a backplate with two fixing points. On solid brick or block walls, standard 5mm wall plugs and screws are sufficient. On plasterboard, use cavity fixings rated for at least 2kg per fixing point.
Can it be fitted as bedside lighting?
Yes. The 220mm projection and 380mm height suit bedside installation, positioning the shade at approximately pillow height when mounted 800-900mm above the mattress. Pair with a warm-white dimmable bulb for adjustable reading light.
