Description

A slim, forward-reaching picture light in satin nickel, sized at 35cm across so it sits neatly over a picture frame or a run of shelving. Light comes from two G9 capsules, throwing a wash down and forward rather than out into the room. The tone is cool white at 4000K, crisp and clean, and it dims when paired with a suitable dimmer, which is not included. A toggle switch on the body means you can work it by hand where there is no switched circuit nearby.

We reach for this one above artwork and prints, where the fitting should stay quiet and the picture does the talking. It also earns its place over a mirror in a cloakroom, above a headboard for reading in bed, or along a narrow hallway where a pendant would sit in the way. The cooler tone suits places where you look closely at things: a study wall, a stairwell hung with photographs, a kitchen alcove. Because it switches at the fitting, it works in rooms where the wall switch is the wrong side of the door.

Plated in a satin nickel that reads soft and grey rather than shiny, so it sits well against pale walls and painted timber. It is an earthed fitting, and one for dry rooms indoors, so keep it clear of shower zones and open porches. For upkeep, run a dry microfibre cloth along the top edge now and then; let the capsules cool before you change them, and keep polishes and sprays away from the plating. Lamps come with it.
