Description

Here is a slim horizontal bar of a picture light, 35cm wide and shallow in height, with a small toggle switch on the body so it can be turned on and off at the fitting rather than across the room. Two G9 capsule lamps are supplied with it, giving warm white light at 3000K. The lamps are replaceable rather than built in, so the fitting carries on long after the first set has gone. It is dimmable as well, though a suitable dimmer is needed and that is bought separately.

At this width it suits a framed picture, a narrow mirror or a stretch of shelving rather than a whole wall. We would put it in a hallway, above a bedhead where there is no room for a table lamp, or in a study where the light needs to land on something particular. Fitted in series along a corridor, they work well over prints hung at a matching height. The switch on the body makes it easy to live with in a bedroom, and dimming lets you take it down to a low, warm level late in the evening. Keep it to dry rooms indoors: hallways, landings, sitting rooms and bedrooms.

The finish is satin black, a soft dark tone that stays flat rather than shiny and sits quietly against a pale wall. Wipe it over with a dry cloth when you dust the frame beneath, and let the capsules cool before you swap them. It carries a one year warranty.
