Description
The Knightsbridge T8LEDP9CW is a 9W LED tube measuring 603mm in length with a 27mm diameter T8 base, designed as a direct replacement for 2ft fluorescent tubes. The tube delivers 1090 lumens at 4000K cool white with a colour rendering index above 80, producing neutral light suited to offices, workshops, retail spaces and utility areas where task visibility matters more than warmth.
The tube fits standard T8 fittings and includes an integrated driver, allowing it to operate on 230V mains without requiring a separate ballast or starter. Installation involves removing the old fluorescent tube, bypassing or removing the existing ballast from the fitting, and wiring the LED tube directly to mains supply. The instant ignition removes the warm-up delay and flicker common to fluorescent tubes, and the 140-degree beam angle spreads light across a wider area than the narrower output of older tube technologies.
The tube construction uses a glass outer with an opal polycarbonate diffuser, giving even light distribution without visible LED hotspots. The glass provides structural rigidity and heat dissipation, while the polycarbonate diffuses the light output across the 140-degree spread. At 120lm/W efficacy, the 9W LED consumes approximately one-third of the power of an equivalent 18W fluorescent tube while producing comparable or higher lumen output. The L70B50 rating of 20,000 hours indicates the point at which 50% of a batch would have depreciated to 70% of initial output.

Frequently Asked
Can this tube replace my existing 2ft fluorescent tube directly?
Yes, but the existing ballast must be bypassed or removed first. The LED tube contains an integrated driver and connects directly to 230V mains. If the ballast remains connected, the tube will not function correctly and may be damaged. Installation instructions are in the product manual linked in the Downloads tab.
What colour temperature is 4000K and where is it used?
4000K is classified as cool white, producing neutral light between the warm yellow of 3000K and the clinical blue of 6000K. It suits offices, workshops, garages, commercial kitchens and retail spaces where clarity and visibility are priorities over ambience.
Is this tube dimmable?
No. The integrated driver does not support dimming. Connecting this tube to a dimmer circuit may cause flickering, reduced lifespan or failure.
What does the L70B50 rating mean?
L70B50 of 20,000 hours indicates the point at which 50% of a batch would have depreciated to 70% of initial lumen output. In practical terms, the tube is expected to maintain usable light output for approximately 20,000 hours of operation before noticeable dimming occurs.
