Description
The Knightsbridge AMLEDBS is a 5W LED outdoor bulkhead with an integrated microwave motion sensor, built around a black polycarbonate base and an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The integrated SMD LED delivers 410lm at 4000K cool white through a 120° beam angle, with the sensor controlling when the light activates based on movement, ambient light level and time delay settings.
Designed for exterior and interior security lighting applications where automatic activation is needed, the bulkhead suits door entrances, side passages, rear garden access points, commercial loading bays, stairwells and covered walkways. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor use in sheltered locations such as under eaves, canopies and covered porches. The microwave sensor detects movement through non-metallic materials, so it can sense motion even when the diffuser is partially obscured by dirt or spider webs.
The polycarbonate construction resists impact better than glass or acrylic alternatives, giving durability in high-traffic areas or where accidental knocks are likely. The 197mm x 108mm footprint and 78mm projection suit standard external back boxes and provide enough light spread to cover a typical 2-3m wide doorway or path section. Sensor controls include adjustable sensitivity to prevent false triggers from small animals or wind-blown foliage, time delay adjustment to set how long the light stays on after movement stops, and lux control to prevent the light activating during daylight hours.

Frequently Asked
How do I adjust the sensor settings?
The integrated microwave sensor has three adjustable controls: sensitivity (to prevent false triggers from small animals or foliage), time delay (how long the light stays on after movement stops), and lux control (to prevent activation during daylight). Controls are accessed once the fitting is installed and the diffuser is removed. See the product manual in the Downloads tab for detailed adjustment instructions.
What does IP54 mean for outdoor use?
IP54 means the fitting is dust-protected and splash-proof from any direction. It can be installed outdoors in sheltered locations such as under eaves, canopies, covered porches and doorways, but should not be exposed to direct heavy rain or submersion.
What's the difference between microwave and PIR sensors?
Microwave sensors detect movement through non-metallic materials by emitting microwaves and measuring reflections. They work through dirt, spider webs and thin walls, and are less affected by temperature changes than PIR sensors. PIR sensors detect infrared heat signatures and require direct line-of-sight to the moving object.
Can it be installed indoors?
Yes. The bulkhead suits both indoor and outdoor applications where automatic security or amenity lighting is needed, including stairwells, corridors, loading bays and storage areas.
