Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a double-pole isolation switch sized to fit a standard 2-gang wall box, finished in polished brass with an ultra-flat plate profile. A red neon indicator above the switch rocker illuminates when the circuit is live, providing a visual check that power is flowing to the connected appliance even when the switch is in the off position.
Designed for cooker circuits and other high-load fixed appliances rated up to 45A (10,350W at 230V), the switch provides full double-pole isolation, cutting both live and neutral lines when switched off. This makes it safer than single-pole switching when servicing or cleaning fixed cooking appliances, as both conductors are physically disconnected from the supply. The 2-gang sizing allows the switch to be installed alongside a standard socket in a dual-box configuration, or used as a standalone cooker isolator where a larger plate is preferred over a 1-gang switch.
The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a polished brass finish and projects just 2.5mm from the wall once installed on a minimum 47mm back box. A built-in gasket between the plate and the wall improves draught-sealing and keeps dust ingress to a minimum. The polished brass develops a natural patina over time unless regularly buffed, giving a warm metallic accent that pairs with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary kitchens.

Frequently Asked
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon illuminates when the circuit is live, regardless of whether the switch is on or off. This confirms that mains power is reaching the switch and allows you to verify the circuit is energised before attempting to turn the appliance on.
What appliances can this switch control?
Any fixed appliance rated up to 45A at 230V, most commonly electric cookers, ranges and ovens. The 45A rating supports loads up to 10,350W. The switch can also be used to isolate multiple cooking appliances on the same circuit, provided the combined load does not exceed the rating.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm mounting box depth is needed. The ultra-flat plate adds just 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, making this one of the lowest-profile cooker switches available.
Is this switch compatible with induction hobs?
Yes, provided the induction hob's power consumption does not exceed 45A at 230V. Most domestic induction hobs are rated between 7-10kW and will operate safely on a 45A circuit with this switch as the isolator.
