Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch with neon indicator is a cooker control switch built into a 2-gang-sized matt black screwless faceplate. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, fully isolating the connected appliance from the mains supply. The red neon indicator window above the rocker shows at a glance when the circuit is live.

Designed for controlling electric cookers, ranges, hobs and high-draw kitchen appliances up to 45A (10,350W at 230V), the switch allows the appliance to be isolated for safe cleaning, maintenance or emergency shutdown without needing to switch off at the consumer unit. The 2-gang footprint matches standard twin-socket positions, making it straightforward to retrofit where a cooker control is needed in line with existing switch positions.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The matt black finish is a low-sheen powder-coated steel that resists fingerprints better than high-gloss finishes and integrates cleanly with modern, industrial and monochrome kitchen schemes. The switch requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and carries a 25-year warranty.

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon window above the rocker illuminates when the circuit is live, providing a visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance. When the switch is in the off position, the neon goes dark.

Can this control multiple appliances?

The 45A rating allows control of multiple cooking appliances on the same circuit provided the combined load does not exceed 45A (10,350W at 230V). Most domestic installations use a single 45A switch per cooker or range.

Is the screwless plate removable for decorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without needing to disconnect wiring.
