Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a double-pole cooker control switch with a built-in neon indicator, housed behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate. Rated at 45A on 230V, the switch handles up to 10,350W of continuous load, covering single cookers, double ovens, hobs and multiple cooking appliances wired to the same circuit.

Designed for kitchen installation where a dedicated cooker circuit terminates, the switch provides full isolation of both live and neutral lines when turned off. The neon indicator lights when the circuit is live, giving a visual confirmation that the appliance is receiving power even when the appliance itself is switched off at its own controls. The switch occupies a single-gang footprint (87.5mm square), making it suitable for standard UK back boxes and minimising wall space in kitchens where multiple control points compete for room.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The brushed chrome finish has a directional grain that reduces fingerprint visibility and pairs well with stainless steel appliances, chrome tap finishes and contemporary kitchen hardware. The switch requires a 47mm minimum back box depth to accommodate the terminals and the neon indicator circuitry behind the faceplate.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed to accommodate the switch mechanism, terminals and neon indicator circuitry. Standard 35mm boxes are not deep enough for this model.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon lights when the circuit is live, meaning power is available to the appliance even if the appliance itself is switched off at its own controls. When the switch is turned off, the neon extinguishes and the circuit is fully isolated.

Can this control multiple cooking appliances?

Yes, provided the combined load does not exceed 45A (10,350W). A typical installation might control a built-in oven and a separate hob wired to the same cooker circuit, with the switch acting as the isolation point for both appliances.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
