Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a double-pole cooker control switch rated at 45A on 230V mains, with a red rocker and integrated neon indicator behind a brushed chrome rounded-edge faceplate. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, allowing safe maintenance and cleaning of the connected appliance without needing to isolate at the consumer unit.

Designed for controlling electric cookers, hobs and ovens, the 45A rating handles up to 10,350W of continuous load on a dedicated circuit. The neon indicator glows when the switch is in the 'on' position, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live. The switch occupies a standard 1-gang footprint (85.75mm square) and fits into a 47mm minimum back box depth, compatible with standard UK wiring regulations for cooker circuits.

The brushed chrome finish over premium-grade steel provides a low-glare metallic surface that resists fingerprints and smudges better than polished finishes. The rounded-edge design includes a built-in gasket that seats against the wall to prevent ingress of dust and moisture behind the faceplate. The faceplate is screw-fixed with visible fixing screws (this is not a screwless model), and the red rocker provides immediate visual contrast against the chrome plate for easy identification of switch position.

The switch carries IP20 rating and EN 60669-1 certification, and comes with a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

Frequently Asked

What appliances can this switch control?

The 45A rating handles electric cookers, hobs and ovens drawing up to 10,350W on a dedicated cooker circuit. It can control multiple cooking appliances on the same circuit provided the combined load stays within the 45A rating and the circuit is correctly sized.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon glows when the switch is in the 'on' position, confirming that the circuit is live. When the switch is off, the neon is dark, indicating that both live and neutral lines are isolated.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is required for safe installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted.

Is this a screwless model?

No. The rounded-edge faceplate is screw-fixed with visible fixing screws. Knightsbridge produces a separate range of screwless faceplates if that finish is preferred.
