Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a 1-gang double pole isolator with a red rocker on a white square edge plate, rated for 230V 50Hz loads up to 45A. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines simultaneously, making it suitable for high-draw fixed appliances like electric cookers, showers and immersion heaters where safe isolation is required.
Designed for residential and commercial installations, the switch fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and uses a thermoset resin plate with a 9mm projection from the wall. The square edge profile sits flush with the plaster line rather than bevelled, giving a clean geometric finish in modern kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms. The red rocker provides clear visual indication of the ON position from across a room.
The white plate carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, inhibiting bacterial growth on the surface in kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene matters. The thermoset resin construction resists heat, impact and UV yellowing better than standard thermoplastic plates, and the 25-year warranty backs this durability. Screw cap covers are included to conceal the fixing screws once installed.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is a 45A switch used for?
A 45A double pole switch is typically used to isolate electric cookers, electric showers, immersion heaters and other high-draw fixed appliances. It provides a safe local isolation point without needing to switch off the circuit at the consumer unit.
What back box depth is required?
A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 9mm plate projection adds to the overall depth from the wall once fitted.
What does the anti-microbial property do?
The plate surface inhibits bacterial growth, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This is particularly useful in kitchens and bathrooms where switches are touched frequently and hygiene is important.
Why is the rocker red?
The red rocker provides clear visual indication of the ON position from across a room, which is a common safety feature for high-draw appliances. It makes it immediately obvious whether the appliance circuit is live or isolated.
