Description
This Knightsbridge 45A double-pole cooker switch provides isolation control for electric cookers, hobs and ovens, with a red neon indicator that illuminates when the switch is on. The switch is rated at 45A on 230V mains, handling loads up to 10,350W, and uses double-pole switching to isolate both live and neutral lines when turned off.
Designed for residential kitchens and domestic installations, the switch allows a cooking appliance to be isolated for cleaning, maintenance or safety without requiring access to the consumer unit. The neon indicator gives visible confirmation of the switch state from across the room, making it clear when the appliance is live. The switch occupies a single-gang footprint of 89mm square and fits a minimum 47mm back box depth.
The brushed chrome finish on the square-edge faceplate provides a satin metallic surface that resists fingerprints and pairs cleanly with stainless steel appliances and contemporary kitchen hardware. The visible fixing screws are part of the standard square-edge design — for a screwless finish, see Knightsbridge's screwless range. The premium-grade steel construction is rated IP20 and carries a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What is the 45A rating used for?
The 45A rating handles electric cookers, hobs and ovens drawing up to 10,350W on a 230V supply. Most domestic electric cookers fall within this rating, but check the appliance data plate before installation.
What does double-pole switching mean?
Double-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is turned off, providing complete isolation of the appliance. This is safer than single-pole switching for high-power appliances and is required by UK wiring regulations for cooker circuits.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
Is the neon replaceable if it fails?
The neon indicator is integrated into the switch mechanism. If the neon fails, the entire switch unit would need to be replaced, though failure is rare and the switch carries a 25-year warranty.
