Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch provides double-pole isolation for electric cookers, ovens and hobs rated up to 45A (10,350W at 230V). The switch features a red neon indicator that illuminates when the circuit is live, confirming power status before starting maintenance work. The brushed chrome faceplate has a rounded edge design with an integrated gasket that sits flush to the wall.

Designed for kitchens with electric cooking appliances, the switch allows the cooker circuit to be isolated without switching off the entire kitchen ring main. Double-pole switching disconnects both live and neutral lines, providing safer isolation than single-pole switching when carrying out appliance repairs, cleaning behind units or replacing cooker elements. The neon indicator makes it immediately visible whether power is on or off, reducing the risk of accidentally working on a live circuit.

The rounded-edge faceplate measures 85.75mm square with 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted. The brushed chrome finish provides a directional grain that softens reflections and pairs cleanly with stainless steel appliances and both contemporary and traditional kitchen cabinetry. The integrated gasket around the plate perimeter creates a tight seal against the wall surface, preventing dust and moisture ingress behind the faceplate. The switch requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and is rated Class I with earthing terminal.

Frequently Asked

What appliances can this switch control?

The 45A rating suits most domestic electric cookers, ovens and hobs up to 10,350W. It can control a single cooker or multiple cooking appliances on the same circuit, provided the combined load does not exceed 45A at 230V.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon illuminates when the circuit is live and the switch is on. When the switch is off, the neon goes dark, confirming the circuit is isolated. This provides a visible safety check before carrying out maintenance work on the connected appliance.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the switch suitable for outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means this switch is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for outdoor installation or use in bathrooms or other wet environments.
