Description
This Knightsbridge 45A double-pole cooker switch provides safe isolation for electric cookers, hobs and ovens, built into a 2-gang-width pearl flat plate with a red neon indicator. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, preventing the appliance from drawing power even if the circuit remains live.
Designed for residential and rental property kitchens, the switch allows an electric cooker or hob to be powered down for cleaning, maintenance or emergency shutdown without needing to isolate at the consumer unit. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the 'on' position, giving a visible confirmation of power status. The 45A rating handles standard domestic electric cookers up to 10.35kW at 230V.
The pearl finish is a soft metallic grey with a subtle lustre, sitting between polished chrome and brushed steel in tone. The flat plate measures 147.5mm x 87.5mm with a 2.5mm projection from the wall once installed, giving an ultra-low profile that minimises shadow lines on painted walls. The plate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a built-in gasket behind the edge to prevent dust ingress, and fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this switch control?
The 45A rating handles standard domestic electric cookers, hobs and ovens up to 10.35kW at 230V. This covers most built-in and freestanding electric cooking appliances in UK homes. If you have multiple appliances on the same circuit, the combined load must not exceed 45A.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon glows when the switch is in the 'on' position, indicating that power is being supplied to the appliance circuit. When the switch is off, the neon is dark, confirming isolation.
What back box depth is required?
A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds just 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving an ultra-low profile finish.
Is this switch screw-fixed or screwless?
This is a screw-fixed flat plate with visible fixing screws at the top and bottom of the faceplate. Knightsbridge also offers screwless variants in other ranges if a screwless finish is preferred.
