The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch with neon indicator provides double-pole isolation for electric cookers, ovens and hobs rated up to 45A (10.35kW at 230V). The switch uses a 2-gang plate size (147.5mm x 87.5mm) rather than a single-gang format, giving a larger rocker for easier operation and better visual presence on kitchen walls. The neon indicator glows red when the circuit is live, confirming at a glance whether the cooker is powered.

Designed for new-build kitchens, kitchen refits and replacement of aging cooker control units, the switch mounts directly onto a standard 47mm minimum back box and uses a screwless matt white faceplate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible fixings on the wall once installed. Double-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors, making it safer to disconnect the appliance for cleaning, servicing or when leaving a property unoccupied for extended periods.

The matt white finish is powder-coated onto premium-grade steel, giving a durable, non-reflective surface that resists fingerprints and scuffs better than gloss white. The 4.3mm projection from the wall keeps the plate shallow enough to sit comfortably on standard plasterboard and masonry installations. What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The matt white cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or tiling around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
