Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch combines a 45-amp double-pole isolator for fixed cooking appliances with a 13A switched socket outlet below it, both behind a matt black steel faceplate with black inserts. The 45A switch carries two neon indicators that glow red when the switch is on, and the 13A socket has its own separate neon showing when that outlet is live.
Designed for kitchen installations where a cooker, range or hob needs isolation alongside a separate switched outlet for small appliances, the unit allows the high-load cooking appliance to be switched off for maintenance or cleaning while the 13A socket remains independently functional. The double-pole switching on the 45A side isolates both live and neutral lines when off, cutting all current to the cooker circuit. The 13A socket handles standard appliance loads up to 3,120W.
The matt black finish is a premium-grade steel with a low-sheen coating that resists fingerprints better than gloss finishes and pairs cleanly with contemporary, industrial and monochrome kitchens. The unit requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for cable connection. The faceplate is fixed with two visible screws at top and bottom, positioned outside the live areas. The neon indicators draw minimal current and remain lit as long as the circuit is energised, providing a visual confirmation that the appliance is ready to heat.

Frequently Asked
What cooking appliances can the 45A switch control?
The 45A rating handles electric cookers, ranges and hobs up to 10,440W at 230V. Most domestic electric cookers fall within this range. The switch provides isolation for maintenance and prevents accidental activation during cleaning.
What back box depth is required?
A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted.
What do the neon indicators show?
The two red neon indicators on the 45A switch illuminate when that switch is on, confirming the cooker circuit is live. The 13A socket has a separate neon that illuminates when that outlet is switched on. The neons remain lit as long as the circuit is energised.
Is the 13A socket controlled by the 45A switch?
No. The 13A socket operates independently with its own switch. You can turn off the 45A cooker circuit while the 13A socket remains functional, or vice versa.
