Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker control unit combines a 45-amp double-pole switch with a 13A switched socket behind a polished chrome faceplate with grey insert. The 45A switch controls the cooker circuit, isolating both live and neutral when switched off, while the 13A socket provides a separate outlet for ancillary kitchen appliances at the same location. Both switches carry neon indicators that glow when the circuit is live.

Designed for kitchen installation next to or near the cooker, this unit provides a local isolation point for the cooker circuit as required by UK wiring regulations (BS 7671), allowing the appliance to be switched off for cleaning, maintenance or emergency isolation without accessing the consumer unit. The separate 13A socket is useful for powering extraction hoods, small appliances or charging devices within reach of the cooker area. The 45A rating supports electric cookers and ranges drawing up to 10,350W on a 230V supply.

The polished chrome finish provides a reflective metallic surface that pairs with stainless steel appliances and chrome kitchen fixtures. The grey insert behind the faceplate provides contrast around each switch and socket aperture. The unit requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and fits a standard double-gang aperture. Premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

Frequently Asked

What is the 45A switch for?

The 45A double-pole switch controls the dedicated cooker circuit, allowing the electric cooker or range to be isolated locally without switching off the circuit at the consumer unit. This is a UK wiring regulation requirement for electric cooking appliances.

Can the 13A socket be used for the cooker?

No. The 13A socket is a separate outlet for ancillary appliances such as extraction hoods, kettles or small kitchen devices. The cooker itself must be wired directly into the 45A circuit via a connection unit behind the appliance.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each switch has a neon indicator that glows when the circuit is live. When the 45A switch is on, its neon glows to confirm the cooker circuit is active. The same applies to the 13A socket switch.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
