Description

The Knightsbridge CU8333W combines a 45A double-pole cooker switch with a 13A switched socket on a single white curved edge plate. The 45A switch isolates both live and neutral lines to a cooker circuit, while the 13A socket provides a separate outlet for kitchen appliances such as microwaves, kettles or slow cookers that need to be positioned near the cooker control point.

Designed for kitchen installations where a cooker control unit is required within 2 metres of the cooker connection point, this unit saves wall space by combining two functions on one faceplate. The 7mm gently contoured plate with rounded edges sits closer to the wall than traditional raised plates, reducing the risk of items catching on the edges in busy kitchen environments. The plate is laser-printed with the 'COOKER' label rather than pad-printed, which resists wear and remains legible after repeated cleaning.

The thermoset resin construction carries third-party tested anti-microbial properties certified to ISO 22196:2011, which is particularly relevant in kitchen settings where the plate is handled frequently and exposed to food preparation surfaces. The white finish is designed to match standard white kitchen wall finishes and blends into tiled or painted splashback areas. The unit fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and includes screw cap covers to hide the fixing screws once installed. Knightsbridge backs this product with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What is the 45A switch for?

The 45A double-pole switch controls the power supply to a cooker circuit, providing isolation for electric cookers, ranges and hobs. UK wiring regulations require a cooker control unit within 2 metres of the cooker connection point, and this unit fulfils that requirement while also providing a 13A socket for other kitchen appliances.

Can the 13A socket power a microwave or kettle?

Yes. The 13A socket is rated for standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W, which covers most kitchen appliances including microwaves, kettles, toasters and slow cookers. The socket operates independently of the 45A cooker switch.

What does the anti-microbial protection do?

The thermoset resin plate is treated with an anti-microbial agent that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. This is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is particularly relevant in kitchens where the switch is touched frequently and exposed to food preparation environments.

What back box depth is needed?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The 7mm plate projection means the unit sits approximately 54mm from the finished wall surface once fitted.
