Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker control unit combines a 45-amp double-pole switch for a cooker circuit with a 13A switched socket outlet behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with a black insert. Both the 45A switch and the 13A socket carry neon indicators that glow when the circuits are live, providing visual confirmation of power status without needing to test with a meter.

Designed for kitchen installation near cookers, ovens and hobs, this unit allows the main cooking appliance to be isolated on its own dedicated 45A circuit whilst providing a separate 13A outlet for auxiliary appliances such as microwaves, slow cookers, or food processors. The double-pole switching on the 45A circuit isolates both live and neutral lines, meeting the isolation requirements for maintenance work on fixed cooking equipment. The unit is certified to BS 4177 and BS 1363-2.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to a 47mm minimum back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The polished chrome finish provides a reflective metallic surface that pairs with stainless steel kitchen appliances and chrome taps, whilst the black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover and defines the edges of each switch and socket aperture. The low-profile design projects just 4.3mm from the wall surface once fitted, and includes a built-in gasket to seal the faceplate against the wall and reduce dust ingress behind the plate.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. This is deeper than a standard single-gang socket back box due to the combined 45A and 13A wiring terminals housed behind the faceplate.

What do the neon indicators show?

Both the 45A cooker switch and the 13A socket have separate neon indicators. Each neon glows when its respective circuit is live, providing visual confirmation that power is flowing to the cooker circuit or to the socket outlet without needing to test with a meter.

Can the 13A socket be used independently of the 45A switch?

Yes. The 13A socket operates on a separate circuit and has its own switch. The 45A switch controls only the cooker circuit, so the socket remains usable for other appliances regardless of whether the cooker circuit is switched on or off.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the unit and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
