Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker control unit combines a 45-amp double-pole switch with a 13A switched socket and dual neon indicators on a pearl-finish steel faceplate with a white insert. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the cooker is switched off, allowing safe maintenance and cleaning without risk of accidental power-on.

Designed for installation in kitchens where one or more high-draw cooking appliances share a circuit, the 45A rating handles up to 10,350W of total load at 230V. The integrated 13A socket can power auxiliary kitchen equipment such as a slow cooker, food processor or kettle on the same control unit without needing a separate outlet. Red neon indicators glow when power is live to each circuit, providing visual confirmation of on/off status.

The pearl finish is a soft off-white metallic with a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints better than gloss white and pairs with both traditional and contemporary kitchen colour schemes. The white insert behind the faceplate apertures keeps a clean, unified appearance. The unit fits a standard 47mm minimum back box and uses visible screw fixings at the top and bottom of the plate.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between double-pole and single-pole switching?

Double-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the switch is off, whereas single-pole only breaks the live line. For high-draw appliances such as cookers, double-pole switching is the safer standard and often required by UK building regulations.

Can this control more than one cooking appliance?

Yes. The 45A rating allows multiple appliances to share the same circuit provided their combined maximum load does not exceed 10,350W at 230V. For example, a 7kW electric oven and a 2kW hob can both be controlled by the same switch if wired on the same circuit.

What do the neon indicators show?

The red neon indicators glow when power is live to each circuit. One neon corresponds to the 45A cooker circuit, the other to the 13A socket. This provides visual confirmation that the switch is on and power is flowing.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The faceplate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
