Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker control switch combines a 45-amp double-pole cooker switch with a 13A switched socket outlet on a single brushed chrome faceplate with white insert. Two neon indicators show when each circuit is live: one for the 45A cooker circuit, one for the 13A socket. The double-pole switching on the cooker circuit isolates both live and neutral lines, providing complete isolation during maintenance or cleaning.

Designed for kitchen installation within 2 metres of the cooker it controls, the unit allows safe isolation of electric cookers, ranges and ovens rated up to 10.35kW on a dedicated cooker circuit. The adjacent 13A socket provides a separate outlet for small kitchen appliances such as kettles, toasters or food processors without overloading the cooker circuit. The socket has its own neon and switch, allowing independent control of the two circuits from a single wall position.

The square-edge design sits flush with the wall once installed, while the brushed chrome finish provides a contemporary metallic accent that pairs with stainless steel appliances and modern kitchen schemes. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the unit and gives clean aperture edges around the switches and socket. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year manufacturer's warranty and requires a 47mm minimum back box depth for installation.

Frequently Asked

What appliances can the 45A switch control?

The 45A switch controls electric cookers, ranges and ovens rated up to 10.35kW (45A at 230V) on a dedicated cooker circuit. It must be wired by a qualified electrician on a correctly rated circuit and installed within 2 metres of the appliance it controls.

Can the 13A socket be used for high-draw appliances?

The 13A socket is a separate circuit from the cooker switch and can handle standard kitchen appliances such as kettles, toasters, microwaves and food processors up to 3,120W. It should not be used for the cooker itself.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each circuit has its own neon indicator. The 45A cooker circuit neon illuminates when the cooker switch is in the 'on' position and the circuit is live. The 13A socket neon illuminates when the socket switch is on and that circuit is live. This allows visual confirmation of circuit status before maintenance.

Is this a screwless faceplate?

No. This is a square-edge faceplate with visible fixing screws at the top and bottom corners. For a screwless finish, see the separate screwless ranges in the Knightsbridge catalogue.
