Description

The Knightsbridge 45A cooker control switch combines a double-pole 45A isolator with an integrated 13A switched socket and neon indicators behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with black insert. The 45A switch controls the main cooker circuit, while the 13A socket provides a separate outlet for auxiliary appliances like slow cookers, microwaves or kettles within reach of the cooking area.

Designed for kitchens where the cooker circuit requires a local isolation point within 2 metres of the appliance, the unit allows the cooker to be switched off for cleaning, maintenance or emergency isolation without accessing the consumer unit. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines, providing safer isolation than single-pole designs. The neon indicators show power status for both the 45A switch and the 13A socket at a glance.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, meaning no screw heads are visible on the wall once installed. The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic tone that pairs with stainless steel appliances and modern kitchen finishes, while the black insert behind the plate defines the edges of each switch and socket aperture. The unit requires a minimum 47mm back box depth and fits standard UK electrical installations rated for 45A cooker circuits.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between the 45A switch and the 13A socket?

The 45A double-pole switch controls the main cooker circuit and is rated for the high current draw of electric cookers and ovens. The 13A socket is a separate outlet for lower-power appliances like slow cookers or kettles near the cooking area. Both can be used simultaneously.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each neon illuminates when its respective circuit is live. The 45A switch neon shows when power is available to the cooker circuit, and the 13A socket neon shows when the socket outlet is switched on and live.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the switch mechanism and wiring. This is deeper than standard socket back boxes due to the combined 45A and 13A mechanism.

Can the screwless plate be removed for redecorating?

Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a metal sub-frame that remains fixed to the back box. The plate can be unclipped for painting or tiling around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the electrical connections.
