Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch with 13A socket combines a double-pole 45A isolator for electric cookers and ovens with a switched 13A socket for auxiliary appliances, behind a black nickel screwless faceplate with a black insert. Both the 45A switch and the 13A socket carry red neon indicators that illuminate when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation of power status before maintenance or cleaning.

Designed for kitchen installation within 2m of the cooker position (as required by UK wiring regulations), the unit allows the cooker to be isolated at the wall without switching off other kitchen circuits. The 13A socket can power a kettle, microwave or other small appliance within the same control unit footprint. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines on the 45A circuit, providing a safe isolation point for cooker servicing or replacement.

The black nickel finish is a dark gunmetal tone that sits between brushed steel and matt black, pairing with both stainless steel appliances and darker kitchen cabinetry. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The unit requires a minimum 47mm back box depth and is rated IP20 for standard indoor dry-location use.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed to accommodate the switch mechanism, socket terminals and cable runs. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What do the neon indicators show?

Both the 45A switch and the 13A socket carry red neon indicators that illuminate when the circuit is live. The neons provide visual confirmation that power is present, which is useful before carrying out maintenance or cleaning of the cooker.

Can this control two cooking appliances?

Yes, provided the combined load does not exceed 45A (approximately 10,350W at 230V). Two single ovens or an oven and hob can be controlled through a single 45A cooker switch if the total current draw is within the rating. Check appliance specifications before wiring.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or tiling around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
