Description

The Knightsbridge CU8333 combines a 45A dual-pole cooker switch and a 13A switched socket on a single white curved-edge faceplate with red rocker switches. The 45A section controls cooker circuits up to 10,350W on a 230V supply, while the 13A socket provides a standard power outlet for smaller kitchen appliances such as kettles, blenders or phone chargers. Both switches use dual-pole isolation, disconnecting both live and neutral lines when switched off.

Designed for kitchen installation where a cooker control unit and nearby power outlet are needed within the same wall aperture, the unit fits a standard double-gang 47mm minimum back box. The red rockers give clear visual confirmation of switch state, meeting building regulation guidance for cooker controls. The curved-edge plate projects 7mm from the wall and uses rounded edges rather than sharp corners, reducing snagging risk in high-traffic kitchen areas.

The white thermoset resin faceplate carries an anti-microbial additive tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits bacterial growth on the surface between cleaning cycles. The 'COOKER' label is laser-printed rather than pad-printed, giving better wear resistance over the 25-year warranty period. Screw cap covers are included to hide fixing screws for a cleaner finish once installed. The unit is certified to BS 4177 for cooker control units and BS 1363-2 for switched sockets.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The curved-edge plate adds 7mm of projection from the wall once fitted. Double-gang back boxes for this type of unit are typically 47mm or 55mm deep.

What does dual-pole switching mean?

Dual-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is in the off position, providing greater isolation than single-pole switching which only breaks the live line. This is standard for cooker controls and recommended for high-draw appliances.

Can the 13A socket be used independently of the cooker switch?

Yes. The 13A socket has its own rocker switch and operates independently of the 45A cooker switch. It can be used for standard kitchen appliances while the cooker switch remains in either position.

What does the anti-microbial finish do?

The thermoset resin faceplate contains an anti-microbial additive tested to ISO 22196:2011. This inhibits bacterial growth on the surface between cleaning, which is useful in kitchens where the switch is touched frequently with hands that may have handled raw food.
