Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch with 13A switched socket combines a dual-pole cooker isolator and a standard 13A outlet on a single 2-gang white thermoset plate. The 45A DP switch provides full isolation of both live and neutral lines to a cooker circuit, meeting UK building regulations for accessible cooker control. The adjacent 13A socket handles standard appliance loads up to 3,120W, giving a convenient power outlet near the cooker without needing a separate socket installation.

Designed for residential kitchens and utility rooms where a cooker circuit and a general-purpose socket are needed in proximity, the combined unit fits a standard 2-gang 47mm minimum back box. The dual-pole switching on the cooker control isolates the cooker circuit completely when switched off, which is required by BS 7671 wiring regulations for cooker installations. The 13A socket includes independent switching, allowing the socket to be turned off without affecting the cooker circuit.

The white thermoset resin plate carries a 9mm square edge profile and includes anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface in high-touch kitchen environments. The laser-printed 'COOKER' label resists wear better than screen-printed alternatives, and screw cap covers hide the fixing screws once the plate is mounted. The thermoset construction withstands higher temperatures than standard plastic faceplates, making it suitable for installation directly above or beside a cooker hob.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 9mm plate projection adds approximately 9mm from the wall surface once the screw cap covers are fitted.

Does the cooker switch isolate both live and neutral?

Yes. The 45A switch is dual-pole (DP), which means it isolates both the live and neutral conductors when switched off. This meets BS 7671 wiring regulations for cooker circuit isolation.

Can the 13A socket and cooker switch be controlled independently?

Yes. The 13A socket has its own independent rocker switch, allowing the socket to be turned off without affecting the cooker circuit, and vice versa.

What does the anti-microbial coating do?

The plate surface includes anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, which reduce bacterial growth on the faceplate. This is particularly useful in kitchen environments where the switch and socket are touched frequently during food preparation.
