Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker control unit combines a 45A double-pole switch with a 13A switched socket on a single polished chrome flat plate. The 45A switch isolates the cooker circuit, allowing maintenance or cleaning without needing to turn off the entire kitchen ring main, while the 13A socket provides an additional outlet for small appliances near the cooker position. Both switches include neon indicators that glow red when live, confirming the circuit status at a glance.

Designed for kitchen installation where control of a cooker or hob is required alongside a convenient socket for kettles, microwaves or other worktop appliances, the unit fits a 47mm minimum depth back box and sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall once installed. The double-pole switching on the 45A isolates both live and neutral lines, providing full electrical isolation rather than just breaking the live conductor. The unit is certified to BS 4177 for cooker control units and BS 1363-2 for socket outlets.

The polished chrome finish on the premium-grade steel faceplate provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs well with stainless steel appliances and modern kitchen hardware. The black insert behind the chrome plate defines the edges of the switch rockers and socket aperture, giving visual contrast and hiding the back of the cover. The ultra-flat profile design includes a built-in gasket that seals against the wall surface, reducing dust ingress behind the plate.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between single-pole and double-pole switching?

Single-pole switching breaks only the live conductor when off. Double-pole switching breaks both live and neutral, providing full electrical isolation. The 45A switch on this unit is double-pole, giving complete isolation of the cooker circuit for safer maintenance.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds just 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What do the neon indicators show?

Both the 45A cooker switch and the 13A socket have separate neon indicators that glow red when the circuit is live. This confirms at a glance whether the cooker circuit or socket is energised, even when the appliance itself is not drawing power.

Can this control two separate cooking appliances?

Yes, provided the combined load does not exceed 45A (approximately 10,350W at 230V). Common configurations include a hob and a separate oven on the same 45A circuit, or a range cooker with multiple cooking zones.
