Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch combines a double-pole 45A isolation switch with a 13A switched socket and neon indicators behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines to the cooker circuit, allowing the appliance to be safely isolated for cleaning, maintenance or repair without removing power at the consumer unit.

Designed for kitchens where a cooker or range requires both a dedicated high-current isolation switch and a nearby 13A socket for small appliances (kettle, microwave, toaster), the unit sits within 2 metres of the cooker position as required by BS 7671 wiring regulations. The neon indicators show when each circuit is live — one neon for the 45A cooker circuit, one for the 13A socket — giving visual confirmation of power status without testing with a voltage detector.

The polished chrome finish provides a high-gloss reflective surface that pairs with both contemporary stainless steel kitchens and traditional brass or chrome fixtures. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate gives a defined edge to each switch and socket aperture. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings once installed. At 87.5mm × 147.5mm, the unit fits a double-gang back box with a minimum 47mm depth.

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What do the neon indicators show?

Two neon indicators are built into the faceplate — one shows when the 45A cooker circuit is live, the other shows when the 13A socket circuit is live. This gives visual confirmation of power status without needing a voltage tester.

Can the 13A socket be used for any appliance?
