Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker control switch combines a double-pole isolation switch rated at 45A with a separate 13A switched socket and dual neon indicators behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The 45A switch isolates the cooker circuit at both live and neutral lines, allowing safe maintenance or cleaning of electric cookers, hobs and ovens without needing to turn off the entire kitchen circuit at the consumer unit.

Designed for kitchen installation within 2 metres of the cooker or hob it controls, the unit suits both domestic and light commercial environments where a cooker control is required by wiring regulations. The integrated 13A socket provides a separate switched outlet for small appliances such as microwaves, kettles or food processors, avoiding the need for additional socket installation nearby. The neon indicators confirm when each switch is live, visible at a glance when entering the kitchen.

The brushed chrome finish on premium-grade steel provides a durable surface that resists fingerprints and pairs with modern and contemporary kitchen hardware. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The 47mm minimum back box depth allows installation in standard 35mm dry-lining boxes with a 16mm surface mount box, or directly into 47mm+ metal back boxes in solid walls.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between the 45A and 13A switches?

The 45A double-pole switch controls the cooker circuit and is rated to handle electric cookers, hobs and ovens drawing up to 10,350W on a 230V supply. The separate 13A switched socket is for smaller appliances up to 3,000W and runs on a different circuit. Both switches have neon indicators showing when they are live.

Where should this be installed in relation to the cooker?

UK wiring regulations require a cooker control switch to be installed within 2 metres of the appliance it controls and in the same room. The switch should be accessible without reaching over the hob or hot surfaces.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is required. This can be achieved with a 35mm dry-lining box plus a 16mm surface mount box, or with a single 47mm+ metal back box in solid walls. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each switch has its own neon indicator. The 45A cooker switch neon confirms when the cooker circuit is live. The 13A socket switch neon confirms when that socket is powered. The neons remain visible when the switches are in the off position if the circuits are live at the consumer unit.
