Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch combines a 45-amp double-pole isolator for cooking appliances with a 13A switched socket outlet, both housed behind a brushed chrome flat plate with a black insert. The unit features two red neon indicators — one for the 45A cooker circuit, one for the 13A socket — showing at a glance which circuits are live.

Designed for kitchen installation above worktops within 2 metres of the cooker or hob it controls, the 45A switch isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, allowing safe maintenance, cleaning or replacement of the cooker without needing to isolate the entire kitchen circuit at the consumer unit. The 13A socket provides a dedicated outlet for kettle, toaster or other small appliances without competing for socket space elsewhere on the worktop ring.

The flat plate design sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall once fitted, giving a lower profile than standard raised-edge plates and making it easier to wipe clean around the switches during kitchen cleaning. The brushed chrome finish on premium-grade steel gives a directional grain that diffuses fingerprints and pairs with stainless steel appliances, chrome tap fittings and cooler-toned worktop materials. The black insert behind the switches provides contrast and hides the back of the cover plate.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm mounting box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a lower profile than standard raised plates.

What do the neon indicators show?

Two red neon indicators are built into the faceplate. One illuminates when the 45A cooker circuit is live, the other when the 13A socket is switched on. This allows you to confirm at a glance which circuits are energised.

Can this control an electric oven and hob together?

Yes, provided the combined load does not exceed 45A (approximately 10.35kW at 230V). Most domestic electric cookers with both oven and hob fall within this rating, but check the appliance specification plate before installation.

Is the flat plate screwed or screwless?

This is a screw-fixed flat plate. Two screws secure the cover plate to the mounting box. For a screwless alternative in the same finish, search for Knightsbridge screwless ranges at Niori.
