45A DP Cooker Switch & 13A Socket - Matt White Screwless (White Insert)

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch combines a double-pole 45A isolation switch with a 13A switched socket and neon indicators behind a matt white screwless faceplate with a white insert. The 45A switch controls the circuit supplying a cooker, hob or range, while the 13A socket provides a separate outlet for extraction fans, microwaves or small kitchen appliances.

Designed for installation in kitchens within 2m of the appliance being controlled, the unit allows the main cooking appliance to be isolated for cleaning, maintenance or emergency shut-off without switching off the entire kitchen circuit. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when off, providing additional safety over single-pole designs. The neon indicators glow red when each switch is in the on position, giving visual confirmation that the circuit is live.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, hiding all fixings once installed. The matt white finish provides a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and glare under kitchen lighting, pairing with contemporary white and light-toned kitchens. What's the difference between single-pole and double-pole switching?

Double-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the switch is off, whereas single-pole only breaks the live. Double-pole is the safer option for high-draw appliances like cookers and is required by UK wiring regulations for appliances over 3,000W.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each switch has a red neon indicator that glows when the switch is in the on position, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live. The 45A switch and the 13A socket each have their own indicator.

Can this control two separate cooking appliances?

The 45A switch typically controls the main cooker circuit (up to 10,800W at 230V). The separate 13A socket can supply a second appliance up to 3,000W, such as a microwave, extractor fan or slow cooker, provided both are on the same ring main or dedicated circuit.
