Description

The Knightsbridge CS8333UBCW combines a 45A DP cooker isolation switch with a 13A switched socket and two USB-A charging ports behind a brushed chrome faceplate with a white insert. The 45A switch controls dedicated cooker circuits up to 10,350W at 230V, while the 13A socket handles auxiliary appliances like kettles, microwaves or small kitchen equipment independently. The dual USB-A ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output for charging mobile devices without occupying the 13A socket.

Designed for kitchen installation where Building Regulations require a dedicated cooker isolation switch within 2m of the appliance, this unit maximises the use of wall space by consolidating three functions into a single double-gang footprint. The DP (double-pole) switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the cooker switch is turned off, providing full electrical isolation for maintenance or appliance replacement. The 13A socket operates independently of the cooker switch and includes its own rocker switch for control.

The brushed chrome finish is applied to a 430 stainless steel faceplate, giving corrosion resistance and durability under kitchen conditions including heat, moisture and grease. The white insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the mounting plate and defines the edges of each switch, socket and USB aperture. The square-edge plate includes an integrated gasket to prevent dust ingress behind the faceplate, and the unit fits standard 47mm minimum depth back boxes.

The dual USB-A output provides 5V DC at a shared 2.4A maximum, sufficient for overnight charging of phones and tablets. Both sockets and the USB output comply with BS 4177, BS 1363-2 and EN 62368-1 safety standards. The unit carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry-location use and includes an earth terminal for bonding to the metal back box.

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the terminals and wiring behind the faceplate. The unit projects 15.7mm from the wall once installed.

Can the 13A socket and cooker switch be used independently?

Yes. The 13A socket has its own rocker switch and operates independently of the 45A cooker isolation switch. Turning off the cooker switch does not affect the 13A socket or USB ports.

What is the USB charging output?

The two USB-A ports share a 5V DC output at 2.4A maximum combined. This is sufficient for overnight charging of phones and tablets. Use certified USB cables to ensure safe charging performance.

Is the faceplate suitable for areas exposed to moisture?

The IP20 rating designates the unit for indoor dry locations. It is not suitable for wet areas, outdoor use, or locations where the faceplate may be directly exposed to water spray. The 430 stainless steel construction resists kitchen condensation and grease under normal indoor kitchen conditions.
