Description

The Knightsbridge 45A cooker control unit combines a 45A double-pole isolator switch with a 13A switched socket and integrated neon indicators on an antique brass faceplate. The 45A switch provides safe isolation for electric cookers and hobs rated up to 10,440W at 230V, while the 13A socket supplies power to small kitchen appliances such as kettles or food processors.

Designed for installation in kitchens and utility rooms, the unit allows a cooker or hob to be isolated for cleaning or maintenance without switching off the consumer unit, while the 13A socket remains independently switchable. The neon indicators show when power is flowing to each outlet, providing visual confirmation that the appliance is either live or safely isolated. The unit fits within 2 gang width (147.5mm) and requires a minimum 47mm back box depth.

The antique brass finish is a brushed warm brass tone with a darker patina that suits traditional and transitional kitchen styles. The faceplate is constructed from 201 stainless steel with the brass finish applied, giving durability and corrosion resistance in kitchen environments. The black socket apertures contrast against the brass plate to clearly define each outlet. Knightsbridge backs this unit with a 25-year guarantee.

Frequently Asked

What is the 45A switch used for?

The 45A double-pole switch isolates the power supply to an electric cooker or hob rated up to 10,440W at 230V. This allows the appliance to be serviced, cleaned or disconnected without needing to switch off the main consumer unit. The neon indicator shows when the cooker circuit is live.

Can the 13A socket and 45A switch be used independently?

Yes. The 13A socket is independently switchable and does not depend on the state of the 45A cooker switch. This allows small appliances to be powered from the socket while the cooker circuit is isolated, or vice versa.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is required for safe installation. The unit projects 9.3mm from the wall once fitted, so total depth from the wall surface to the back of the back box needs to be at least 56mm.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each neon indicator lights when power is flowing to its corresponding outlet. The 45A switch neon shows when the cooker circuit is live, and the 13A socket neon shows when that socket is switched on and live. This provides visual confirmation of the electrical state without needing a voltage tester.
