Description

The Knightsbridge SUR5SLEM is a 40W LED emergency batten measuring 1500mm x 145mm x 45mm, designed for surface or suspended ceiling mounting in commercial and institutional spaces. The integrated SMD LED array delivers 3600 lumens at 4000K cool white through an opal polycarbonate diffuser, with a 3-hour emergency battery backup that maintains 165 lumens when mains power fails. The fitting operates in maintained, non-maintained, or switched emergency modes.

Designed as a direct replacement for older fluorescent tube battens in offices, schools, healthcare facilities and retail environments, the SUR5SLEM provides uniform ceiling illumination with a 115-degree beam angle and minimal glare. The pressed steel housing and opal diffuser combine to give an even light distribution across workspaces, corridors and open-plan areas. Push-fit terminals with loop-in/loop-out wiring reduce installation time when fitting multiple units in series.

The 45mm projection keeps the fitting low-profile against ceilings, while the white powder-coated steel housing blends into standard commercial ceiling finishes. The fitting is rated IP20 for dry interior use and carries Class I earthing. At 140.3lm/W efficacy the SUR5SLEM meets current Eco Design and ErP requirements, and the L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours indicates the LED will maintain 70% of its initial output for approximately 5.7 years of continuous operation. A suspension kit for pendant mounting is available separately. The fitting is compatible with Knightsbridge motion and daylight sensors for additional energy saving.

What is the emergency duration?

The integrated battery provides 3 hours of emergency lighting at 165 lumens when mains power fails. The fitting can be configured for maintained (always on), non-maintained (emergency only), or switched emergency operation.

Can it be suspended from the ceiling?

Yes. The SUR5SLEM supports both surface mounting directly to the ceiling and suspended mounting via an optional suspension kit (sold separately). Surface mounting uses the fixing points on the pressed steel housing.

What is the light colour and quality?

The LED operates at 4000K cool white with a CRI greater than 80, suitable for task lighting in commercial environments. The opal diffuser spreads the light evenly across a 115-degree beam angle, reducing glare on screens and work surfaces.

Is it compatible with motion sensors?

Yes. The SUR5SLEM can be paired with Knightsbridge motion and daylight sensors to reduce energy consumption by switching the fitting on only when the space is occupied or when natural light levels drop below a set threshold.
