Description

The Knightsbridge SFR998SB is a 4-gang multimedia combination plate with two 13A double-pole switched sockets, one dual USB fast charge outlet (USB-A and USB-C), and capacity for up to eight 25x50mm Euro module inserts. The screwless cover plate is finished in smoked bronze with a black insert behind the apertures, and clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to a 47mm minimum back box depth.

Designed for home offices, home cinema installations, and commercial AV zones where multiple connection types need to converge at a single wall position, the plate combines power, USB charging and modular connectivity without needing to fit separate faceplates. The two 13A sockets handle standard UK appliance loads, while the eight Euro module apertures accept networking ports (RJ45), coaxial TV sockets, satellite F-connectors, HDMI inserts, telecom modules and other 25x50mm Euromod accessories (modules sold separately).

The dual USB outlet provides one USB-A port and one USB-C port sharing a combined 5V DC 4.0A output, with Knightsbridge FASTCHARGE technology supporting up to 18W delivery via USB-PD and QC3.0 protocols. Voltage adjusts intelligently from 5V to 12V depending on the connected device, and the system includes overload and overheat protection. The USB outlet draws 0.1W in standby, meeting ErP energy efficiency requirements.

The smoked bronze finish is a mid-tone bronze with a slight grey cast, created through PVD coating on 201 stainless steel. The screwless design hides all fixing screws behind the cover plate, which is held in place by spring clips on the sub-frame. An integrated gasket around the edge of the plate sits flush to the wall surface, reducing dust ingress around the perimeter. Twin earth terminals on the back provide high-integrity earthing for both sockets and the metal frame.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The plate projects 9.5mm from the wall surface once fitted, with 22.2mm recessed depth inside the back box. A standard 2-gang 47mm back box will not accommodate this plate — a custom 4-gang box or two adjacent 2-gang boxes with a bridging frame are required.

What Euro modules can be fitted?

The plate accepts up to eight 25x50mm Euromod inserts in the blank apertures. Common choices include RJ45 Cat5e/Cat6 networking sockets, coaxial TV outlets, satellite F-connectors, HDMI pass-through modules, BT telephone sockets, 3.5mm audio jacks and blank inserts. Modules are sold separately and clip into the apertures from the front once the cover plate is removed.

What is the USB charging output?

The dual USB outlet provides a combined 5V DC 4.0A output shared between the USB-A and USB-C ports. With FASTCHARGE enabled, the output can reach up to 18W via USB-PD or QC3.0 protocols, with voltage adjusting from 5V to 12V depending on the connected device. Charging from 0-70% battery happens at fast charge speed, after which the output reverts to standard mode to protect battery longevity.

Is the screwless cover removable for redecorating?

Yes. The smoked bronze cover plate clips onto a metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be unclipped, the wall redecorated around the sub-frame, and the cover re-clipped without needing to disturb wiring or Euro module inserts.
