Description

The Knightsbridge 32A 3P+N+E panel mount socket delivers 415V three-phase power through an angled red housing rated to IP44 for protection against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The socket accepts standard IEC 60309 32A 415V plugs with three live pins, one neutral and one earth terminal, commonly used for industrial machinery, workshop equipment and commercial kitchen appliances drawing up to 22kW continuous load.

Designed for panel mounting on machinery enclosures, distribution boxes, temporary power units and workshop walls, the socket requires a 51mm recessed depth behind the mounting surface and mounts through a square cutout using the four corner fixing holes. The angled design exits the cable downward at approximately 45 degrees from the faceplate, keeping plug bodies and cable entries away from vertical mounting surfaces and reducing strain on trailing cables where equipment is positioned close to walls or enclosure panels.

The red polycarbonate housing indicates 415V three-phase to IEC colour-coding standards, visually distinguishing it from blue 230V single-phase and yellow 110V centre-tapped earth outlets. The IP44 rating suits indoor industrial environments, covered outdoor locations, and temporary installations where dust ingress and occasional water contact occur but submersion or sustained water jets are not expected. The socket body measures 100mm height by 81mm width with a 102mm total depth including the angled outlet projection.

Frequently Asked

What plug type does this socket accept?

The socket accepts IEC 60309 32A 415V 3P+N+E plugs, commonly used for three-phase industrial equipment. The pin configuration includes three live pins, one neutral and one earth arranged to the international standard for 415V connections.

What does the IP44 rating mean?

IP44 indicates protection against solid objects larger than 1mm (dust and small debris) and water splashes from any direction. The socket suits covered outdoor locations and indoor industrial environments where occasional water contact occurs, but is not rated for direct water jets or submersion.

What panel cutout size is required?

The socket requires a square panel cutout and mounts using four corner fixing holes. The recessed depth behind the mounting surface needs to be at least 51mm to accommodate the back of the socket body and wiring terminations. Exact cutout dimensions are provided in the downloadable specification sheet.

Why is the socket angled rather than straight?

The angled outlet directs the plug body and cable exit downward at approximately 45 degrees from the faceplate, keeping trailing cables away from the mounting surface. This reduces cable strain where equipment is positioned close to walls or enclosure panels and provides easier cable management in tight installations.
