Description

The Knightsbridge IN0011 is a 32A 2-pole plus earth industrial plug rated IP44 for splash-protected outdoor and workshop use. The plug features a blue polycarbonate front section housing three brass pins (two poles plus earth) and a white cable-entry section with an integrated cable gland that grips the outer sheath of the incoming cable to prevent strain on the terminals.

Designed for temporary power distribution on construction sites, outdoor events, workshop machinery and portable equipment requiring higher current than standard 13A domestic plugs, the plug mates with 32A 2P+E industrial sockets compliant with BS EN 60309-2. The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor use in rain or damp workshop conditions where it will not be submerged.

The blue colour coding indicates 240V single-phase operation, distinguishing it from red 400V 3-phase plugs and yellow 110V site transformer plugs. The polycarbonate housing measures 65mm diameter by 138mm length and resists impact and UV degradation better than PVC alternatives. The brass pins carry 32A continuously without overheating, supporting loads up to 7.68kW on a 240V supply.

Frequently Asked

What cable size does the plug accept?

The cable gland accepts cable outer diameters typically between 9mm and 15mm. Use 6mm² or 10mm² three-core flex for 32A loads depending on cable run length. Tighten the cable gland after wiring to grip the outer sheath and prevent strain on the terminals.

Can this be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP44 rating provides protection against rain and splashes. The plug is not submersible and should not be left standing in puddles or used in locations where it will be hosed down directly.

What does 2P+E mean?

2P+E indicates two poles (live and neutral) plus earth. This is the standard configuration for 240V single-phase industrial connectors in the UK, compatible with BS EN 60309-2 sockets.

Why is it blue?

Blue colour coding indicates 240V single-phase operation under BS EN 60309-2. Red indicates 400V 3-phase, yellow indicates 110V (site transformers), and violet indicates 24V DC or low-voltage AC.
