Description

The Knightsbridge IN0012 is a 32A 2-pole plus earth angled surface mount socket rated at 240V, built to IP44 for protection against splashing water and solid objects above 1mm. The socket mounts to a wall or panel surface via two fixing holes on the white ABS base, with the blue socket body angled at approximately 45 degrees to the mounting plane for easier cable insertion and removal.

Designed for workshop, industrial, construction site and outdoor temporary power installations where a weatherproof 32A connection is needed without the depth required for a flush-mounted socket. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for covered outdoor locations or indoor areas where water spray or heavy condensation may occur, though it is not rated for continuous immersion or direct hosing. The angled orientation keeps plugged cables pointing downward, reducing strain on the connection when used on vertical surfaces.

The socket accepts a PG21 cable gland fitting (supplied with a PG21 to M20 adaptor in the box) to maintain the IP44 seal where the supply cable enters the back of the white base. The blue socket body is manufactured from impact-resistant thermoplastic and the white base from ABS, giving a combined weight suitable for screw fixing to timber, masonry or metal panel surfaces. Dimensions are 142mm height, 71mm width, 97mm depth from the wall when mounted.

Frequently Asked

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against splashing water from any direction and solid objects above 1mm. The socket can be used outdoors in covered locations (under eaves, in sheds, on covered loading bays) but should not be exposed to direct rain, hose spray or standing water. It is not submersion-proof.

What cable gland does it need?

The socket comes with a PG21 cable gland fitting and a PG21 to M20 adaptor in the box. PG21 suits cables with an outer diameter of 13-18mm; M20 suits 10-14mm. Use the gland size that matches your supply cable diameter to maintain the IP44 seal.

Can it be flush-mounted?

No. This is a surface-mount socket designed to fix directly to a wall, panel or timber surface via the two screw holes on the white ABS base. If you need a flush-mounted 32A socket, search for Knightsbridge flush-mount industrial sockets in the catalogue.

Why is the socket angled?

The 45-degree angle allows plugged cables to point downward when the socket is mounted on a vertical surface, reducing mechanical strain on the plug connection and making it easier to insert and remove plugs without bending the cable sharply at the socket face.
