Description

Three slim curved trapezium shades in amber hang in a row from a slender bar finished in antique gold. The shades are narrow and gently waisted, so they read as a line of light rather than a solid block, and the amber gives a warm, honeyed cast once lit. The bar measures 850mm across, which suits a run above a table without crowding it, and the drop is adjustable, so the shades can sit low over a surface or be pulled up closer to the ceiling.

It works best where you want light gathered along a length: over a kitchen island, a narrow dining table, a breakfast bar or a long hall console. With suitable lamps and a dimmer it can be dimmed, which is worth doing where the pendant hangs at eye level in the evening. We reach for a linear pendant like this in place of a single central fitting when a room is longer than it is wide, and we would fit LED globe lamps here, chosen to suit the tint of the shades.

The metalwork carries an antique gold finish, softer and warmer than a bright brass. Dust the bar with a dry cloth and lift fingerprints from the shades with a slightly damp one, working with the light switched off and the lamps cold. Keep it to dry indoor rooms; a hallway or dining room suits it, a shower room does not. The same slim curved trapezium shade turns up elsewhere in the Lori range on a single light flush fitting, in polished chrome as well as antique gold. It carries a one year warranty.
