3 Light E27 Round Amber Glass Pendant Light 40cm - Satin Nickel

Three amber globes hang from a round satin nickel plate 40cm across, each on its own suspension so you can set them at different heights or level them off in a row. The glass is open at the mouth, which lets light drop straight down while the rest of the globe glows warm. Each takes an E27 lamp, and the shape of the lamp you choose will show through the amber.

It suits a dining table, a kitchen island or a long console where you want light gathered in one place rather than spread thinly. The drop adjusts over a generous span, so it works under a tall ceiling as well as a standard one, and staggering the globes down a stairwell turn is one of the nicer things you can do with it. It will dim with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with the fitting. We would reach for a clear or amber LED globe lamp here, something with a visible filament, rather than anything opaque.

The metalwork is finished in satin nickel, a soft grey sheen that keeps fingerprints less obvious than polished chrome, and the amber glass is coloured through rather than sprayed. For cleaning, take the power off at the wall, let everything go cold, then lift dust from the glass with a dry microfibre cloth; a barely damp cloth will handle marks, dried off straight away. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Lori range includes flush fittings in polished chrome and antique gold, with globe, wine and trapezium shades, so you can carry the same glass through a hallway or a landing. Lamps are not included.

How far down will it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 270mm at its shortest to 2270mm at its longest, measured from the ceiling, which covers everything from a low kitchen ceiling to a stairwell.

What lamps should I fit?

Three E27 lamps, up to 20W each. LED is the sensible choice, and because the globes are open at the mouth the lamp itself is on show, so pick one you are happy to look at.

Can the three globes hang at different heights?

Yes. Each of the three suspensions is set independently, so you can stagger them over an island or keep them level over a table.

Is it dimmable?

It will dim, but only with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither is supplied with the pendant.

How wide is the fitting overall?

The ceiling plate measures 400mm in diameter, and the whole pendant weighs 3.8kg.

How do I keep the amber glass looking right?

Dust with a dry microfibre cloth once the fitting is off and cold. For fingerprints, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately; avoid solvents and abrasive creams on the coloured glass.
