Description

Three slim curved trapezium shades in amber sit around a round antique gold plate, each one angled outward so light travels sideways as well as down. At 40cm across it covers a good width of ceiling, and the shallow plate keeps everything tucked close overhead. Each shade takes its own E27 lamp, which leaves the warmth and brightness of the fitting entirely in your hands, and with suitable lamps and a separate dimmer the light can be brought down low.

This is the sort of ceiling light we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway, a landing, a bedroom under a low ceiling, or a small dining corner that needs light without a shade dangling in the way. The outward angle of the shades spreads brightness across the ceiling and walls, and the amber tint lends a honeyed cast to whatever lamps you fit. It suits rooms with warm timber, brass ironmongery or deeper paint colours, and works just as well in a plain white hall as a bit of warmth overhead.

The frame carries an antique gold finish, softly aged rather than bright, and the shades repeat that warmth in amber. Keep it looking well with a dry cloth over the shades and a light touch on the metal, leaving polishes and sprays in the cupboard. Rated for dry indoor rooms, it wants a hallway or bedroom rather than a shower room or a covered porch. It carries a one year warranty. It takes three E27 lamps, up to 20W each. LED capsules or small LED globes suit the shades best.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer comes with the fitting.

How much ceiling does it cover?

The plate measures 400mm in diameter with an overall height of 90mm, so it reads as a wide, shallow disc rather than a hanging fitting.

Will it suit a low ceiling?

That is exactly where we would use it. At 90mm deep it stays well clear of head height, unlike a pendant.

How should I clean the shades?

Switch the light off and let the lamps go cold, then dust the amber shades with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid metal polish and spray cleaners near the antique gold.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is an IP20 fitting for dry rooms such as halls, landings, bedrooms and living rooms.
