Description

The Knightsbridge SK9909BN is a 3-gang pop-up socket with dual USB Fastcharge (one USB-A, one USB-C) that retracts flush into worktops, desks and countertops when not in use. The unit pops up when needed and locks upright via a secure clip mechanism, providing three 13A UK sockets plus fast USB charging through a 100mm black nickel cap. An IP54 rating protects the internal components from dust and water splashes when the unit is closed.

Designed for kitchen islands, office desks, boardrooms and hotel rooms where visible trailing sockets would disrupt clean surfaces, the pop-up unit requires a circular 90-92mm cutout and a minimum 445mm void depth beneath the worktop. The aluminium body includes a backlit on/off rocker switch and comes pre-wired with a 2m cable terminating in a UK plug, allowing installation without hard-wiring. The inverted socket positions and cable management cap allow devices to remain plugged in even when the unit is retracted.

Knightsbridge Fastcharge USB technology switches output voltage between 5V and 12V to optimise charging speed for compatible devices, delivering 0-50% charge in under 30 minutes where the device supports fast-charge protocols. The USB-C port provides up to 12V DC 1.5A (18W) for Power Delivery devices, while the USB-A port offers standard 5V output. Total shared output across both ports is capped at 20W. The black nickel finish on the die-cast metal cap pairs with stainless steel appliances, dark worktops and contemporary kitchen hardware.

What worktop thickness does this fit?

The unit fits worktops between 10mm and 50mm thick. Below the worktop surface you need a minimum 445mm void depth to accommodate the retracted socket assembly and the 2m cable run.

Is it waterproof when closed?

The unit carries an IP54 rating when closed, meaning it's protected against dust ingress and water splashes. It is not submersion-proof and should not be installed where standing water can pool on the closed cap.

What is Fastcharge and which devices support it?

Fastcharge switches output voltage between 5V and 12V to optimise charging speed for compatible devices. Most smartphones and tablets activate fast-charge protocols between 0-70% battery, then revert to standard charging to protect battery health. Note that iPhone 15 does not support voltage-switching fast charging via USB-C on this socket — charge via the USB-A port or a wireless pad instead.

Can devices remain plugged in when the unit is retracted?

Yes. The inverted socket positions and cable management cap allow cables to exit through the top of the closed unit, so devices can stay connected even when the pop-up is fully retracted. This is useful for charging overnight or keeping items plugged in when the worktop surface needs to be clear.
