Description
The Knightsbridge BT20CTA is a 20W LED bulkhead with IP65 weather sealing, CCT colour temperature adjustment, and a built-in corridor function sensor. The 380mm white polycarbonate housing contains an integrated SMD LED array behind an opal diffuser, delivering between 1,530lm and 1,760lm depending on the selected colour temperature. The corridor function sensor dims the light to 10% standby when no motion is detected, returning to full output on movement.
Designed for commercial corridors, stairwells, external covered walkways, car parks, loading bays and multi-occupancy residential communal areas, the bulkhead suits both wall and ceiling mounting. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for wet outdoor locations where the fitting is sheltered from direct rainfall. The hinged LED gear tray allows access to the driver and terminal block without removing the entire housing from the wall, speeding maintenance and reducing downtime in commercial installations.
The CCT adjustment switch on the gear tray allows installers to select 3000K warm white (1,530lm), 4000K neutral white (1,760lm), or 5700K cool white (1,640lm) at the point of installation, matching the light colour to the surrounding environment without needing to stock multiple SKUs. The polycarbonate construction gives impact resistance to IK08 while keeping the total weight under 1kg. The Class II double-insulated design requires no earth connection, simplifying wiring in older buildings. The push-fit terminal block accepts cables up to 2.5mm² without requiring screwdrivers, reducing fitting time on multi-unit installations.
The integrated LED has an L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours, translating to approximately 20 years of use in a corridor application running 8 hours per day. The constant current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains with no external control gear required. The bulkhead is not dimmable via wall switches but the corridor function provides automatic dimming based on occupancy. The 110-degree beam angle gives wide coverage for corridors up to 2.5m wide when ceiling-mounted at 2.4m height.

Frequently Asked
How does the corridor function sensor work?
The corridor function dims the light to 10% output when no motion is detected for a set period (typically 30-60 seconds, depending on programming). When movement is detected, the light returns to full output. This reduces energy consumption in low-traffic areas while maintaining some ambient light for safety.
How is the colour temperature adjusted?
A CCT switch on the hinged gear tray inside the housing allows selection between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, and 5700K cool white. The setting is chosen at installation and is not user-adjustable once the bulkhead is sealed and mounted.
Can this be used outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, making it suitable for covered outdoor locations such as canopies, sheltered walkways, car park ceilings, and loading bay walls. It should not be exposed to direct heavy rainfall or submersion.
What cable size does the terminal block accept?
The push-fit terminal block accepts cables up to 2.5mm² cross-sectional area. The Class II double-insulated design requires only live and neutral connections — no earth is needed.
