Description
The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch features a polished brass flat plate with a matching rocker and a red neon indicator visible above the rocker when the switch is on. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines, providing full isolation for fixed appliances such as water heaters, underfloor heating systems, and commercial catering equipment rated up to 20A (4,600W at 230V).
Designed for residential, hospitality and light commercial installations, the switch fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a flat plate design with just 2.5mm projection from the wall surface once installed. The screwed faceplate fixing allows the brass plate to be removed for redecorating or maintenance without disturbing the wiring. The built-in gasket compresses against the back box edge on installation, reducing dust ingress and improving the finished appearance.
The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, classical and period interiors. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and is certified to EN 60669-1 for switching performance and safety. The 87.5mm square faceplate matches standard UK single-gang grid dimensions, making it compatible with other Knightsbridge flat plate accessories in the same finish.

Frequently Asked
What is this switch used for?
The 20A rating makes this switch suitable for fixed appliances drawing up to 4,600W at 230V, including water heaters, electric underfloor heating systems, towel radiators, and commercial kitchen equipment. It is not intended for lighting circuits or general socket control.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon indicator above the rocker illuminates when the switch is in the 'on' position, providing visual confirmation that power is being supplied to the appliance. This is particularly useful for appliances like water heaters where operational status is not otherwise visible.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The flat plate adds just 2.5mm of projection from the wall surface once fitted, making it suitable for installations where minimal protrusion is required.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this flat plate style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, brushed brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
