Description
This is a mains socket with charging built into the plate, finished in charcoal with a chrome insert framing the openings. Charcoal reads as a deep, soft grey rather than a flat black, so it settles against painted walls, darker tiles and timber without drawing the eye. The screwless plate shows no fixings on the face, leaving a clean flat front broken only by the switch rockers and their neon indicators, which glow while power is flowing. Both sockets are rated at 13A and switched separately, with USB-A ports set into the plate below them.
We would fit this where a phone or tablet gets topped up every day: a bedside table, a kitchen worktop near where the kettle sits, a desk in a home office, or the hall table where keys and earbuds land. Charging leads go straight into the plate, so the sockets themselves stay free for a lamp and a laptop instead of being taken up by charging cubes. There are four USB-A ports in total, with the output shared between the pair on each side, so charging is quicker when only a single port on that side is in use. It suits busy households with plenty of small devices and no appetite for a drawerful of adaptors.
The plate and rockers are moulded in ABS, a tough plastic that holds its colour and shrugs off the knocks a worktop or bedside gives it. For cleaning, a dry cloth over the face deals with dust and a barely damp one with finger marks; keep solvents and sprays away from the ports. Keep it to dry rooms indoors on a normal household supply, rather than bathrooms or unheated outbuildings. It carries a ten year warranty. We reach for the charcoal where white plates would jump out against a darker wall, and the chrome insert gives it just enough lift to look deliberate rather than utilitarian.

Frequently Asked
How big is the plate?
It measures 146mm long by 88mm high, so it takes up a little more wall than a standard double plate to make room for the charging ports.
What sort of USB ports does it have?
Four USB-A ports, arranged as a pair under each socket. Each pair shares 10W between them, so a single device on that side charges at full output.
Are the sockets switched?
Yes. Each socket has its own rocker switch with a neon indicator, so you can see at a glance which side is live.
What is it made from, and what are the two colours?
The plate is moulded ABS in charcoal, with a chrome insert around the openings as a trim rather than a separate finish option.
Can it be used in a bathroom or outside?
No. It is rated for dry indoor rooms on a domestic supply only.
How long is the warranty?
It carries a ten year warranty from the maker.
