2 Gang 2 Way Light Switch - Strawberry

Strawberry is a warm red-pink, and here it covers a flat screwless plate with chrome rockers set into it. This is a two gang, two way switch, so each rocker can work with a partner switch elsewhere in the house to control the same lighting from either end, and either rocker will equally serve on its own as a plain on-off. The plate is square, 88mm across, and the front face carries no visible screws, so the colour runs uninterrupted from edge to edge with only the two chrome rockers breaking it.

We like this where a plain white plate would look like an afterthought: a hallway in a deep colour, a kitchen with a bold splashback, a child's bedroom, a utility or boot room. Two way switching is the obvious answer for a staircase or a long corridor, where you want the light under your hand as you set off and again when you arrive. It also suits anyone controlling more than one lighting circuit from a single position, say downlights and a pendant over a table. We would choose it where there is already chrome ironmongery or chrome accessories in the room to pick up on.

The plate is moulded ABS rather than metal, which keeps it light and puts the colour through the material instead of on top of it as a coat of paint. It is double insulated, and intended for indoor rooms on domestic lighting circuits. Any gloss plate shows fingerprints, so a wipe with a barely damp cloth and a dry buff afterwards is all it asks; keep cream cleaners and solvents away from it, as they will dull the surface. It carries a ten year warranty. Strawberry reads best in small doses, so a single plate against a strong wall colour does more for it than a whole houseful.

Can I use this as an ordinary one way switch?

Yes. A two way switch can be wired as a straightforward on-off, so you can use it in a single-switch position and keep the option of adding a second switch later.
