Description

The Knightsbridge SN2192 is a 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer switch rated for 5-400W resistive loads or 5-150W LED loads per gang, mounted behind a white square-edge faceplate made from thermoset resin with an anti-microbial finish. Each gang operates independently with a rotary control knob that provides push-on/push-off switching and variable dimming from 5W minimum to the rated maximum load.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where different rooms or zones need independent dimming control from multiple switch locations, the 2-way configuration allows the dimmer to be paired with a second switch elsewhere in the circuit for multi-point operation. The intelligent module automatically switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes to match the lamp type connected, with manual override available via the front control knob if needed. This means the dimmer adapts to most dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent bulbs without needing to rewire or replace the module when lamps are changed.

The white thermoset resin plate measures 86mm square with a 9mm overall thickness and fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The square-edge design provides a flat profile against the wall with minimal projection, and the anti-microbial coating inhibits bacterial growth on the surface — a feature increasingly specified in healthcare, hospitality and high-traffic commercial environments. The rotary control provides tactile feedback when adjusting light levels, and the front-access trimming controls allow the minimum and maximum brightness to be set without removing the plate from the wall.

The dimmer carries an IP20 rating for dry interior use and operates on 230V 50Hz mains. It must be used only with dimmable lamps, and all lamps controlled by a single gang must be the same brand, type and wattage to avoid compatibility issues and premature dimmer failure.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?

Trailing-edge dimming works by cutting the end of the AC waveform and is generally better for low-voltage LED and electronic transformers. Leading-edge dimming cuts the start of the waveform and suits resistive loads like incandescent and halogen bulbs. This dimmer automatically selects the correct mode based on the load connected, with manual override available if needed.

Can I mix different LED bulb brands on one gang?

No. All lamps controlled by a single gang must be the same brand, type and wattage. Mixing different lamp types or wattages causes uneven dimming performance and can damage the dimmer module.

What does 2-way configuration mean?

2-way means the dimmer can be paired with a second switch elsewhere in the circuit, allowing the same light to be controlled from two different locations. This is common in hallways, staircases and larger rooms with multiple entry points.

How do I adjust the minimum and maximum brightness?

The front rotary control knob provides access to trimming functions. Press and hold the knob to enter adjustment mode, then rotate to set the minimum and maximum brightness levels. This allows the dimmer to be calibrated to the specific lamps installed without removing the faceplate.
