Description
The Knightsbridge 18W outdoor LED bulkhead combines adjustable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 6000K), an integrated daylight sensor and an emergency function in a 360mm die-cast aluminium housing finished in grey. The CCT adjustment is set via a switch on the LED gear tray before installation, allowing the bulkhead to be configured for warm white (3000K, 1680 lumens), neutral white (4000K, 1790 lumens) or cool white (6000K, 1810 lumens) output depending on the application.
Designed for outdoor use on building perimeters, car parks, loading bays, communal pathways and industrial sites, the bulkhead carries an IP65 rating for full protection against dust and water ingress. The daylight sensor switches the bulkhead on at dusk and off at dawn, reducing energy consumption by preventing the light from operating during daylight hours. The emergency function provides maintained, non-maintained or switched-maintained operation during mains power failures, with a backup output of 190-200 lumens in emergency mode depending on CCT selection.
The die-cast aluminium body and impact-resistant polycarbonate diffuser give the bulkhead vandal-resistant durability, while the opal diffuser spreads the 110-degree beam evenly across the lit area without glare hotspots. The housing is secured with anti-tamper fixings to resist unauthorised removal. At 18W input with an efficacy of 132.6 lumens per watt, the bulkhead offers a low-running-cost alternative to traditional 70W SON bulkheads, and the SMD LED array is rated for 50,000 hours to L70B50, meaning the bulkhead will still deliver 70% of its initial output after 50,000 hours of operation.

Frequently Asked
How is the colour temperature adjusted?
The CCT is set via a selector switch on the LED gear tray inside the bulkhead. You choose between 3000K, 4000K or 6000K before wiring and mounting the unit. Once installed, the colour temperature is fixed until the bulkhead is opened again.
What does the daylight sensor do?
The integrated daylight sensor detects ambient light levels and switches the bulkhead on at dusk and off at dawn automatically. This prevents the light from operating during daylight hours, reducing energy consumption and extending the life of the LED array.
How does the emergency function work?
The bulkhead can be configured for maintained, non-maintained or switched-maintained emergency operation. In maintained mode, the bulkhead stays on continuously and switches to battery backup during power cuts. In non-maintained mode, it only illuminates during mains failure. Switched-maintained allows mains control when power is present, switching to battery backup if the mains fails.
Is this suitable for coastal environments?
The die-cast aluminium body and IP65 rating make the bulkhead suitable for outdoor use in rain, dust and moisture. However, in marine or coastal environments with high salt exposure, the grey powder-coated aluminium may corrode faster than stainless steel alternatives. Regular inspection and maintenance of fixings and seals is recommended in these conditions.
