Description
The Knightsbridge 18W Outdoor CCT LED Eyelid Bulkhead is a die-cast aluminium wall fitting with an integrated microwave sensor and adjustable colour temperature. The bulkhead measures 360mm diameter and projects 94mm from the wall, housing an 18W SMD LED array behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The microwave sensor detects motion within its range and switches the light on automatically, providing security lighting for building entrances, pathways and car parks without needing manual switching.
The CCT adjustment on the LED gear tray allows the output to be set to 3000K (1020lm warm white), 4000K (1080lm neutral white) or 6000K (1090lm cool white) during installation, giving flexibility to match the light temperature to the surroundings without ordering three separate models. The IP65 rating protects the internal components from dust and water jets from any direction, making the bulkhead suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations including coastal environments. The eyelid hood over the top half of the diffuser shields the light source from direct view when approached from above, reducing glare on stairs and sloped pathways.
The die-cast aluminium body in grey powder coat finish resists corrosion and impact, with stainless steel fixings securing the diffuser to the body. The anti-vandal construction and 50,000-hour L70B50 rating (the point at which LED output drops to 70% of initial lumens, with no more than 50% of the array having failed) support maintenance-free operation in high-use public spaces. The bulkhead operates on 230V mains with a constant-current driver and accepts surface or semi-recessed mounting into masonry or metal substrates.

Frequently Asked
How does the microwave sensor work?
The integrated microwave sensor detects motion within its range by emitting microwave pulses and measuring reflections from moving objects. When motion is detected the bulkhead switches on automatically and remains lit for a preset hold time (adjustable on some models). This differs from PIR sensors which detect infrared radiation — microwave sensors work through non-metallic materials and are less affected by temperature changes.
How is the CCT adjusted?
The LED gear tray inside the bulkhead has a physical switch or dip switch that sets the colour temperature to 3000K, 4000K or 6000K. The adjustment is made during installation before the diffuser is fitted, and the setting remains fixed once the bulkhead is sealed. The setting cannot be changed remotely or once the fitting is fully assembled on the wall.
Can it be used in coastal locations?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and salt spray, and the die-cast aluminium body with powder coat finish resists corrosion. Stainless steel fixings are used throughout. For extreme coastal exposure with direct salt water contact, periodic rinsing with fresh water will extend the finish life.
What mounting depth is needed?
The bulkhead can be surface-mounted onto any flat substrate with the 94mm projection extending from the wall, requiring no recess. For semi-recessed mounting a shallow recess of approximately 30-40mm can reduce the overall projection, but the full 94mm depth is not required to be recessed — consult the installation manual for exact dimensions.
