Description
The Knightsbridge 18W LED eyelid bulkhead combines a microwave motion sensor with CCT-adjustable SMD LED technology in a die-cast aluminium housing finished in black. The eyelid design places a curved hood over the top half of the 360mm circular diffuser, directing light downward and reducing upward glare and light spill into neighbouring properties or the night sky.
Designed for pathway lighting, building entrances, car parks and industrial yard perimeters, the integrated microwave sensor detects movement through the polycarbonate diffuser and switches the light on automatically, then off after a preset delay when no further motion is detected. This reduces runtime compared to dusk-to-dawn operation and extends the 50,000-hour L70B50 rated lifespan of the integrated LED. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for fully exposed coastal and industrial environments.
The CCT adjustment allows the colour temperature to be set during installation to 3000K warm white (1020lm), 4000K neutral white (1080lm), or 6000K cool white (1090lm) by switching a selector on the LED gear tray behind the diffuser. The opal polycarbonate diffuser spreads light across a 110-degree beam angle, and the die-cast aluminium body dissipates heat efficiently to maintain consistent output over the 50,000-hour rated life. Anti-vandal polycarbonate fixings resist tampering in public-access locations.

Frequently Asked
How does the microwave sensor work?
The microwave sensor detects movement by emitting microwave pulses and measuring the reflection pattern. When movement is detected, the light switches on and remains on for a preset duration (typically 30-90 seconds depending on model settings) after the last detected motion, then switches off to conserve energy.
How is the CCT colour temperature adjusted?
A selector switch on the LED gear tray behind the diffuser allows you to choose between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 6000K cool white. The setting is adjusted during installation and remains fixed unless the fitting is opened again to change it.
What is the IP65 rating suitable for?
IP65 provides complete protection against dust ingress and protection against water jets from any direction. This makes the bulkhead suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations including coastal areas, car parks, industrial yards, building perimeters and pathway lighting in all UK weather conditions.
What does the eyelid design do?
The curved hood over the top half of the diffuser directs light downward and prevents upward light spill. This reduces glare for people approaching the fitting, minimises light pollution into neighbouring properties and the night sky, and concentrates more useful light onto paths, doorways and ground-level surfaces.
