Description

The Knightsbridge IN002 is a 16A 2-pole + earth industrial connector rated for 110V operation, with an IP44 housing that protects the terminals against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The yellow and white colour-coded body conforms to UK construction site and industrial standards where 110V equipment is used to reduce shock risk.

Designed for temporary power distribution on construction sites, outdoor events, workshops and industrial installations, the connector mates with standard 16A 110V industrial plugs and extension leads. The two-pole + earth configuration provides live, neutral and protective earth connections for safe operation of power tools, site lighting, compressors and other portable 110V equipment rated up to 16A continuous load.

The housing is moulded from impact-resistant thermoplastic with a hinged yellow cover protecting the contact apertures when not connected. The 51mm diameter body and 127mm overall length give a compact form that fits typical site cable glands and strain relief fittings. The IP44 rating means the connector can be used outdoors in wet conditions provided it is not submerged or subjected to pressurised water jets.

Frequently Asked

What equipment is this connector compatible with?

The connector mates with standard 16A 110V industrial plugs conforming to BS EN 60309-2. It is used to connect site transformers to extension leads, or extension leads to portable tools and equipment rated for 110V 16A operation.

Can it be used outdoors in the rain?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor use in wet weather. It should not be submerged in water or subjected to high-pressure water jets.

Why is 110V used on construction sites?

110V centre-tapped to earth reduces the risk of fatal electric shock compared to 230V mains. If a live conductor is touched, the maximum voltage to earth is 55V, below the threshold considered dangerous in most fault conditions.

What cable size does the connector accept?

The connector accepts cable entries suitable for 110V 16A-rated flexible cables, typically 2.5mm² three-core. Consult the product specification sheet in the Downloads tab for exact cable entry and gland dimensions.
